China News Service, Kunming, December 3 (Luo Jie) On the 3rd, the China-Laos railway connecting Kunming, China and Vientiane, Laos, was put into operation.

On this 1,035-kilometer international railway, 167 new tunnels and 301 new bridges were built. These are known as the “traveling between bridges and tunnels”. Among them, there are a number of typical tunnels and world-class bridges. best in the world.

The China-Laos Railway passes through many mountains and water systems, and the geological structure along the line is complex, making it extremely difficult to construct.

Under such a difficult construction environment, the Yuanjiang Bridge on the China-Laos Railway has set two world records.

It is the largest deck-type continuous steel truss railway bridge in the world. It is located in Yuanjiang Hani, Yi and Dai Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, with a total length of 832.2 meters.

Among its four piers, the tallest pier No. 3 is 154 meters and the main span is 249 meters, equivalent to the height of a 54-story building, ranking first in the world.

The Banahan Mekong Bridge in Oudomxay Province in northern Laos is the largest bridge in Laos with the highest pier and the largest span. It is 1652.3 meters in length and most of it lies on a curve. It is one of the bridges that cross the Mekong River.

Its completion also marked the completion of the construction tasks of the two large bridges across the Mekong River on the China-Laos Railway, laying the foundation for the completion and opening of the China-Laos Railway as scheduled.

The first long tunnel to be penetrated on the whole line is the Moding Tunnel with a total length of 6.45 kilometers. The tunnel body passes through 3 faults and has a maximum buried depth of 345 meters. It faces karst, bedding, fault fracture zone, gypsum, carbonaceous mudstone, water gushing, etc. The construction is extremely difficult due to bad geological disasters.

Then, the longest tunnel in Laos, Sencun No. 2, overcame the difficulty of 36,400 cubic meters of water per day in the main tunnel of the tunnel, and was completed in December 2019.

On November 28, 2020, the Anding Tunnel, the longest tunnel on the entire China-Laos Railway, went through smoothly.

The tunnel has a total length of 17.5 kilometers and has the characteristics of the longest tunnel, the longest auxiliary tunnel, the longest single inclined shaft, the most faults, the largest buried depth, the largest deformation, the largest single-head construction length, and the largest water pressure. , Its project scale, construction difficulty and project risk are extremely rare in Chinese railway tunnels.

The reporter learned from China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. that there are 38 new stations on the China-Laos Railway.

In the early stage of operation, the entire line was put into operation in 25 stations including Kunming, Yuxi, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Yexianggu, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Vientiane, etc. The architectural styles of the stations in each region fully integrated with the regional culture, presenting "one station, one scene". The distinctive features.

Among the newly built station buildings, Vientiane Station, as the largest passenger station in Laos, shows the charm of Vientiane as the “city of sandalwood and the city of forests”. The station covers an area of 14,500 square meters and can accommodate up to 2,500 people at the same time.

This station is very close to landmark attractions such as the Arc de Triomphe, Wat That Luang and Xiangkun Temple in Laos. It only takes about half an hour to drive and the transportation is very convenient.

Luang Prabang Station, which is located in the "pure land on earth, the ancient capital of Shangliao", is designed with the "human" roof of Xiantong Temple in Laos as the design image, becoming the station with the most exquisite and complex architectural structure along the railway.

The “best tunnel, best bridge, best station building” of the China-Laos Railway has condensed the wisdom and sweat of the builders of China and Laos.

Today, the completion of countless "impossible" cross-border railways has brought closer economic, social and cultural cooperation and exchanges between China and Laos, which has far-reaching significance for accelerating the construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor and building a China-Laos community with a shared future.
