Italian photographer Nicholas Bosoni traveled from construction site to construction site in Laos. Bosoni says that in Laos the pace of daily life is actually slower and more leisurely than in other places in Asia.

In 2013, China loudly announced its Belt and Road Initiative: plans to develop raw materials, trade corridors and markets around the world. Many experts believe that the investments are driving Laos deep into the red and ever further into Chinese dependence because the country actually cannot afford them. It could create an economic crisis similar to that in Sri Lanka a few years ago.
