Among them, the Kunming-Yuxi section is 106 kilometers long and is a dual-track electrified railway with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It was completed and opened to traffic in December 2016; the newly built Yuxi-Mohan section is 507 kilometers long, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour and a dual-track single-track combination The new electrified railway was constructed by China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Company, a subsidiary of China Railway Group; the newly built section from Boding to Vientiane is 422 kilometers long and is a single-track electrified railway with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.   The China-Laos Railway is an international railway directly connected to the Chinese railway network. The line starts from Kunming in southwestern China in the north, passes through Yuxi City, Pu'er City, Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture in the south, passes through the Mohan Railway Port in China and the Boding Railway Port in Laos, and enters In the northern part of Laos, continue to travel south through Luang Namtha Province, Oudomxay Province, Luang Prabang Province, and Vientiane Province to reach Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

The train runs daily from Kunming to the south of Vientiane There are 2 pairs of cross-border cargo trains; point-to-point EMU passenger trains operate between Vientiane and Boding, and between Kunming and Mohan. Among them, there are 2 pairs of mobile trains running daily between Vientiane and Boding, and the highest daily between Kunming and Mohan It can drive 17.5 pairs of mobile trains.

After the opening of the China-Laos railway, Kunming to Mohan can be reached in 5 hours and 20 minutes, and Boding to Vientiane can be reached in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
