[Explanation] On the evening of October 16, the three-day 2nd United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference concluded in Beijing.

The conference provided participants with a way to explore the future development of sustainable transportation, and laid an important foundation for the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) to be held in Glasgow, UK next month.

  [Explanation] Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport of China, said at the closing ceremony that the conference has received the offline and online participation of all UN member states and participating parties, which shows that sustainable transportation is getting more and more attention and support. It is playing an increasingly important and active role in promoting global sustainable development.

  Through video exchanges, offline conversations, online interactions and other methods, a total of more than 130 ministers of transportation, representatives of entrepreneurs, and heads of international organizations spoke enthusiastically. A series of forward-looking and constructive policy dialogues have been conducted in various fields including economic recovery.

  [Commentary] Li Xiaopeng pointed out that the outcome document of the conference, "Beijing Declaration", has been published on the official website of the conference.

The "Beijing Declaration" describes the future vision of global sustainable transportation development, proposes actions to strengthen transportation cooperation, and provides a framework for the implementation of the transportation-related goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  We sincerely hope that these visions and initiatives will receive the attention and response of all participants, so that they will be gradually transformed into practical cooperation measures, injecting confidence and impetus for the sustainable development of transportation.

  [Commentary] UN Deputy Secretary-General Liu Zhenmin said that the conference provides a valuable opportunity for all parties to discuss the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and sustainable transportation, and is important for raising global awareness of sustainable development actions and strengthening international cooperation. It is of great significance.

COP26 will be held in Glasgow, UK next month. He is looking forward to seeing the participants at COP26 achieve more results on topics such as sustainable development and climate change.
