The occupancy rate of the hotel industry on the Côte d'Azur in July is nearly ten points higher than July 2020. But it is still 16 points lower than that recorded in July 2019, before the health crisis, according to a first report published Friday by the Regional Tourism Committee (CRT).
This occupancy rate, which stands at 69% on average over the first 25 days of July, is higher than the forecasts made by the CRT Côte d'Azur France, which lists hotel activity in the Alpes-Maritimes. and the Principality of Monaco.
On the last two weekends, it even climbs up to 80%.
Demand driven by tourists from the Middle East and Southern Europe
The organization also indicates that on July 18, air bookings to Nice Côte d'Azur airport, if they remain far below those of 2019, climb in July-August by 14% compared to 2020.
According to the CRT, "demand from the Middle East and Southern Europe is the one that rebounds the most strongly with a volume doubled compared to summer 2020".
The trend is also very positive for Western Europe and North America (+ 20%), and positive for Northern Europe (+ 7%).
“Due to their classification in country + red + and quite logically, customers from Oceania (-90%), Asia (-55%), Latin America (-30%) and Russia-Europe Central and Eastern (-24%) are the ones that are declining the most ”, finally specifies the Committee.
