Mastercard acquires Ikata

The giant US credit card company, MasterCard, announced yesterday evening that it has acquired Ikata for $ 850 million.

Ikata provides digital identity verification solutions that allow companies around the world to link any digital transactions to the person who performs them.

Ikata is based in Seattle, USA, and has offices in Amsterdam, Singapore and Budapest. It does not expect the price of the deal to affect its financial results for more than 25 months.

"With the addition of Ikata, our identification capabilities will advance and provide a safer and easier way for our customers to prove their identity in the new digital economy," said Ajay Bhalla, MasterCard's Head of Intelligence and Virtual Network Solutions.
