Ehime's Ikata Nuclear Power Plant: Today's ruling in court where Oita residents requested suspension of operation. Residents of Oita Prefecture, on the opposite shore, have requested that the operation of Unit 3 of the Ikata nuclear Power Plant in Ehime Prefecture be stopped.
Residents argued that measures to prepare for a huge eruption of Mt. Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture are necessary but insufficient. Shikoku Electric Power Co. said that ahuge eruption could occur during the operating period of the nuclear power plant.
