At this point, the announcement has yet to be confirmed by a commission from the Israeli Defense Ministry.

This should meet next week.

But the plan to push ahead with the construction of more than 800 housing units in seven West Bank settlements has received support from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Benny Gantz.

The two heads of government, in direct confrontation as the country embarked on a new electoral campaign, both want to give pledges to the settlers and their supporters.

Among the seven settlements concerned, one is the one where a Franco-Israeli woman who was murdered at the end of December lived.

Another is considered illegal under Israeli law.

We are here to stay.

We continue to build the Land of Israel,

”wrote Benyamin Netanyahu on his Facebook page.

But the head of government also wants to take advantage of the presence in the White House of a president favorable to the program of the Israeli right.

After the election of Joe Biden, he had already launched a tender for the construction of housing in a new settlement in East Jerusalem.

At the risk of offending the future American president, hostile to colonization.
