As the demand for electricity for heating is increasing due to the effects of the cold wave, TEPCO is proceeding with an unusual initiative to receive power interchange from companies with private power generation facilities.

According to TEPCO Power Grid, which handles the power transmission and distribution business, the demand for electricity for heating has increased more than expected due to the recent cold weather, and there is a risk that LNG = liquefied natural gas, which is the fuel for thermal power generation, will run short. ..

For this reason, the company has been seeking the cooperation of steel and chemical manufacturers that have private power generation facilities since the 5th, and is receiving power interchange.

According to the company, electricity demand is expected to increase on the 7th, but it is possible to secure sufficient supply capacity even during peak hours from 9 am to 10 am, and so far there is no problem with the stable supply of electricity.
