Dubai renews 148,600 commercial licenses within 11 months

Dubai Economy launched the "automatic renewal" to raise customer satisfaction and facilitate their transactions.

A report issued by the commercial registration and licensing sector in Dubai Economy stated that 83 thousand and 762 commercial licenses were renewed automatically during the 11 months of 2020, which constitutes 56.4% of the total number of 148 thousand and 616 license renewal transactions during the same period.

The automatically renewed licenses were distinguished by their diversity according to activity, as commercial activities topped 73%, followed by professional activities with 24%, and the rest of the percentages were distributed to industrial and tourism activities.

The report also showed that the total number of license renewal transactions during 11 months reached 148,616 licenses, compared to 131,49 licenses renewed during the same period in 2019, with a growth rate of 13.4%.

Geographical distribution

The report sheds light on the distribution of renewed licenses, according to the main regions in the Emirate of Dubai, and the largest share was for the Bur Dubai region, with a total of 77,353 licenses, then Deira with a total of 70,915 licenses, and then the Hatta region with 348 licenses.

As for the distribution of these renewed licenses according to the highest sub-regions, they were as follows: Burj Khalifa, Naif, Port Said, Al Marar, Al Garhoud, First Trade Center;

Hor Al-Anz East, Ayal Nasser, and Al-Karama.

Legal form

According to the legal form, limited liability companies topped with 69%, followed by "individual corporation" by 20%, and then "civil business" by 5%.

The rest of the percentages were distributed to companies: "limited liability - one person", and branches of companies based in another emirate;

And branches of foreign companies, branches of Gulf companies, branches of companies / establishments based in a free zone, solidarity companies, public joint-stock companies, private joint-stock companies, a government liaison office, and a simple recommendation.

Auto Renewal

The Dubai Economy launched the "automatic renewal" service to raise the satisfaction of customers, facilitate their transactions, and save time to complete them smoothly in Dubai. In the past, the customer's journey to renew a commercial license included four visits and seven steps, while the owner of the license, in the "automatic renewal", only has One step is to send the license number to be renewed to 6969.

The launch of the service also comes within the framework of the commercial registration and licensing sector’s endeavor to follow a leadership approach to sustainability and competition, and to strengthen the mechanisms followed in conducting commercial activities in the Emirate of Dubai, by following the latest technology and smart programs that are in line with the highest international standards.

There are four economic activities of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, which are not covered by the advanced automatic renewal service, which are: passenger transport by public taxi, passenger transport in luxury cars, car rental, passenger transportation services with non-emergency situations, and two activities of the Tourism and Trade Promotion Department, which are: Organizing internal tourism trips, and organizing foreign tourism trips

Dubai Economy called on all license-holders to update their personal data, so that the Commercial Registration and Licensing Sector team can provide services more effectively.

Payment channels

Customers can pay automatic renewal service fees through electronic payment channels, which include: Dubai Government's smart portal, “Afaq for Collection”, DED Business smart application, Commercial Bank of Dubai, and Dubai Islamic Bank (for customers of the two banks).

Payment can also be made through Afaq Islamic Finance, by bank transfer or deposit in Dubai Islamic Bank ATMs, or by cash payment via Dubai Commercial Bank and Emirates Islamic.
