While between 700,000 and 800,000 young people enter the labor market in a difficult economic context after the health crisis of Covid-19, the director of LinkedIn France Fabienne Arata reveals a positive trend in Europe 1. On the professional social network, she observes the continuation of recruitment campaigns for work-study students and young people.

The government has just detailed its recovery plan of 100 billion euros with one objective: to return in 2022 to the economic level before the Covid-19 crisis.

Among the stated priorities, several measures concern youth employment.

A category of population particularly affected by the economic effects of the health crisis.

According to a study by the World Labor Organization, one in six young people have been unemployed since the onset of Covid-19.

However, a positive sign can be seen on the professional social network LinkedIn, which has 20 million members in France and 840,000 companies of all sizes.

Recruitment of young people and recruitment of work-study students preserved 

"Our clients have preserved, even during the downsizing phase, the recruitment campaigns on work-study students and on young people," explains Fabienne Arata, Managing Director of LinkedIn France, on Europe 1.

During this new school year, between 700,000 and 800,000 young people enter the labor market in September.

"I am not saying that there is not a subject on youth unemployment, since we know that in France the youth unemployment rate is higher than in certain countries. On the other hand, what companies have preserved it is the hiring of young people, the recruitment of work-study students ", she specifies.

The general manager of the social network also notes an increase in recruitment rates in all countries, in particular France.

"This trend continued until July, and today we have recruitment rates in July close to ante-Covid rates, which is an extremely positive sign."
