The Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector in the Dubai Economy announced that it had received 81 commercial complaints during the second quarter of 2020, a decrease of 35%, compared to the second quarter of 2019, in addition to receiving 147 business inquiries.

He stated in a statement yesterday that he had received all complaints and business inquiries through smart channels, as the website accounted for 88% of the total complaints, while the “Dubai Consumer” application received 12% of complaints, in addition to 100% of “Business” inquiries. .

Business sectors

With regard to the distribution of commercial complaints, according to business sectors, the services sector accounted for 30.9% of the total, followed by the decoration and construction sector 16%, the building materials sector 16%, accessories 9.9%, food products 7.4%, then electronics 6.2%. In turn, the equipment leasing sector acquired 6.2%, and the shipping sector 3.7%, while the share of cars, furniture and transaction clearance was 1.2% for each.

Types of complaints

The most prominent types of commercial complaints were related to non-compliance with the terms of the agreement with a rate of 71.6% of the total, followed by complaints of commercial fraud 13.6%, then non-compliance with specifications and standards 4.9%, while complaints of imposing additional fees on a service or product, and complaints of non-compliance with the price list 3.7% for each. And non-compliance with commercial activity, and failure to comply with the terms of the guarantee 1.2% for each.
