• LAST MINUTE: Information about the coronavirus

The Government has approved to extend to three months the moratorium on the payment of mortgage bills and to extend it to all those credits linked to consumption for those households that have been impacted by the coronavirus crisis.

This is how it appears in the Royal Decree-Law that adopts urgent complementary measures in the social and economic field to deal with the covid-19 analyzed today by the Council of Ministers.

The term of the suspension is added to that of the payment of the mortgages and will be three months , limited to those families that have seen their income decrease drastically in recent weeks due to the application of an ERTE or the cessation of activity of a company. . The bank will not be able to collect in this period neither the installment nor the interests of the credits.

On the other hand, the royal decree establishes that while the alarm state is in force, it cannot suspend the supply of electricity, gas and water to any home considered "habitual residence" except for reasons linked to security of supply.

"Likewise, the period during which the state of alarm is in force will not count for the purposes of the terms included between the reliable request for payment and the suspension of supply due to non-payment established in the current regulations or in the supply contracts, as the case may be. ", highlights the literal nature of the rule.
