Four French wives of suspected jihadists who were detained in Turkey after escaping from a camp in Syria were sent back to France on Monday. They are accompanied by their seven children.

" The expulsion of foreign terrorist fighters continues. In this context, eleven French nationals were returned, "said the Turkish Ministry of the Interior in a statement. A source at the ministry said the evictions took place on Monday (December 8th).

Arrest warrants

A French judicial source confirmed to AFP that these four women expelled under the " Cazeneuve protocol ", had arrived in France with their 7 children.

Signed in 2014, the Cazeneuve protocol is a police cooperation agreement between Paris and Ankara that allows the interception upon their return of jihadists returning from Syria via Turkey.

Of the four women, two, who were the subject of an arrest warrant, will be presented directly to an examining magistrate for their indictment. The other two were the subject of a search warrant and were placed in police custody upon their arrival in Roissy, according to this source.

Evasion

Children are cared for by child welfare.

According to a source close to the case, these women had escaped from camps in Syria under Kurdish control and were recovered by the Turkish authorities.

The decision to expel these French nationals, suspected of belonging to the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group, was announced by a spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of the Interior on Nov. 11 when Ankara began sending back to their home countries. alleged foreign jihadists detained in Turkey.
