A 17-year-old boy died Saturday morning in hospital following a scooter accident, which took place on Friday evening in Chelles (Seine-et-Marne) after the driver of the two-wheeler refused to stop on police orders, the Meaux prosecutor said.

The driver of the scooter, also 17 years old, was still hospitalized on Saturday evening, with his vital prognosis engaged, following the accident that ended the chase that began two kilometers earlier, in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis). Two investigations have been opened by the Meaux public prosecutor's office: one for refusal to comply, entrusted to the Chelles-Villeparisis police station; the other for homicide and unintentional injuries, entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police, the prosecutor said in a statement.
