The first trailer for the video game »GTA VI«, which has been announced for 2025, pulverized a YouTube record set just this summer on Tuesday. At the time, MrBeast, the YouTuber with the most subscriptions, boasted that he had set a new record for the most video views within 24 hours three times in two weeks on the platform, excluding music videos. With his best-selling clip »Every Country On Earth Fights For $250,000!«, MrBeast managed to collect 59.4 million clicks within one day.

The trailer for »GTA VI« has now already set this record on Tuesday afternoon, after the video was posted online shortly after midnight German time. 24 hours after it went live, it ranked at more than 90 million views. YouTube itself has not published an exact figure on the subject. Meanwhile, the X account of »Guinness World Records« attested to the trailer on Tuesday morning that it was the »most watched video game reveal on YouTube«.

MrBeast also chimed in on X. With an open-mouthed emoji, he pointed out that the video for "GTA VI" had broken the record set by him and his team at 70 million clicks.

Rockstar Games couldn't get past BTS

In the end, Rockstar Games didn't quite come close to the 24-hour record for the best-launched music video. It has 108.2 million views in 24 hours and was set up by the South Korean boy group BTS in 2021 with the video for their single »Butter«.

Many gaming fans had been waiting for the first pictures from the new »GTA« game for years: The predecessor »GTA V« was released in 2013. In the meantime, there had been several leaks and reports about the development of the new game, but no video footage shown directly by the manufacturer.
