It has been three days since the heavy snowfall stopped in the Honam area, but the snow that has accumulated in many places in the city has not been cleared.

In particular, back roads and narrow alleys are icy roads, threatening the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

This is KBC reporter Seongho Park.

vehicle passes on a road that has not yet melted snow.

The road is still slippery enough that the wheels spin moment by moment.

However, drivers who turn to the side road after driving on the main road that has been cleared of snow do not slow down.

[Choi In-song/Driver: The big roads melted a lot, but the apartment complex (wheels) fell off, the car.

So it's very difficult.]

It's been a few days since the snow stopped, but the aftermath of the heavy snow still lingers in many parts of the city.

In particular, as the snow accumulated around the road melts and the road surface becomes wet, so-called 'black ice' occurs during the early morning and early morning hours when the temperature drops, causing accidents.

As the piles of snow piled up along with the snow removal work on the back road are not cleared, they are left dangerously neglected.

In the case of snow remaining in the city center, it is difficult to recycle because snow removal agents such as calcium chloride are mixed, and budgetary issues such as manpower and equipment for transportation are also obstacles.

[Gwangju Metropolitan City Office official: We are working on it, but we have deployed one excavator for each dong.

However, there is a budget, and we cannot rent because we are too short on equipment.]

Snowdrifts and black ice still piled up throughout the city, threatening the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
