The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's Violent Crime Investigation Department has launched a compulsory investigation into the alleged obstruction of the Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort bid by the KH Group.

On the morning of the 27th, the prosecution sent prosecutors and investigators to about 20 places, including the offices of KH Group affiliates, the residence of officials, the residence of former Gangwon-do Governor Choi Moon-soon, and the Gangwon-do Development Corporation to secure bidding-related materials.

Gangwon-do Development Corporation (GDC) sold Alpensia Resort to KH Gangwon Development Co., Ltd., a special purpose corporation affiliated with KH Group, for 711.5 billion won through competitive bidding in June of last year.

However, suspicions of collusion were raised as both companies participating in the bidding were revealed to be subsidiaries of the KH Group.

The Gangwon Peace Economic Research Institute filed a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission in July of last year, urging the investigation into bid rigging suspicions, and in August of last year, the Gangwon-do Police Department for obstruction of bidding.

The Chuncheon District Prosecutor's Office, which was investigating the case, transferred the case to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office, which has jurisdiction over the Seoul headquarters of KH Group, at the end of last month.
