police special investigation headquarters requested arrest warrants for four police officers, including the chief of the Yongsan Police Station at the time of the Itaewon disaster.

It is the first time since the launch of the Special Investigation Headquarters that a warrant has been requested, and whether or not to arrest it is expected to be decided next week.

The persons for whom the Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency applied for an arrest warrant are Lee Im-jae, former chief of the Yongsan Police Station, Park Seong-min, former head of the information department of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Song Byeong-ju, former head of the Yongsan Police Station 112 Situation Department, and Kim Jin-ho, former information chief of the Yongsan Police Station.

For the first time in a month since the launch of the special edition, we started to secure new recruits for the suspects.

Former chief Lee Im-jae was charged with negligent manslaughter at work for causing loss of life by failing to take precautionary measures despite reporting safety measures during Halloween and failing to take appropriate relief measures even after recognizing the disaster.

The police believe that the former Situation Chief Song Byeong-joo, who is accused of the same, did not take appropriate safety measures even after calling 112 to inform about the danger of being crushed to death right before the disaster.

The special edition judged that there was a risk of destroying evidence as they denied the charges.

Previously, former Chief Lee appeared at the National Assembly and said that he had requested support from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, but as a result of the investigation, no evidence was found to support this. .

Former manager Park Seong-min and former manager Kim Jin-ho were accused of destroying evidence for instructing them to delete information reports warning of the danger of Halloween crowds after the disaster.

While they are also known to deny the charges, it seems that the arrest of the four police officers will be decided through a warrant review on the 5th.

The special version plans to decide sooner or later whether to apply for arrest warrants for other suspects, including Yongsan-gu Chief Park Hee-young and Yongsan Fire Chief Choi Seong-beom.
