A man in his 50s who wielded a weapon after a violent fight with a local resident was sentenced to prison.

On the 15th, the 1st Criminal Division of the Pohang Branch of the Daegu District Court (Chief Judge Kwon Soon-hyang) announced that A (58), who was charged with attempted murder, was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

Mr. A is accused of attempting to kill Mr. B with a weapon when he did not get up while drinking with Mr. B, a resident of the neighborhood, at his house last June.

Mr. A usually had a bad feeling because Mr. B, who was drunk, often visited the store he ran and behaved badly. On the day of the incident, Mr. A had a bad fight with Mr. B while talking about his past.

Later, his older sister, who came to Mr. A's house, found the victim and reported it to the police, and Mr. A was arrested urgently.

During the trial, Mr. A claimed, "I only dropped the scissors on the victim's face about two times to get the victim out, and there was no intent to kill."

However, the judge did not accept Mr. A's claim, saying, "It seems that the victim was sufficiently aware of the possibility or danger of death," considering the fact that dozens of stab wounds were found on the victim's body and that he was in a state of excessive bleeding.

"Mr. A stated at the investigative agency that he did not remember anything specific, but considering the fact that he asked the police officer who was dispatched to the scene, 'Are you still alive?' I did.

However, he said, "We decided on the sentence considering the fact that the incident happened accidentally while drinking and the fact that the victim did not want to be punished by paying a small amount of settlement money."
