"You have your own speed and you've done well so far,"

said the mother who sent her daughter there, a test site for only one person made at Kosin University Hospital in Seo-gu, Busan.

Today (17th), when the 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test was taken, the test room for only one person who appeared in an inpatient room on the 6th floor of Kosin University Hospital in Seo-gu, Busan was made for Miss A, who is suffering from a rare incurable disease.

Miss A was diagnosed with 'long-chain hydroxydehydrogenase deficiency', a rare congenital intractable disease, in 2007 when she was 3 years old.

This disease is known to cause severe pain like a knife after consuming the short-term energy stored in the muscles because there is no enzyme (glycogen) that converts fat into energy in the body, and death or brain damage if treatment is delayed.

When taking a long-term test like the CSAT, if measures such as getting an intravenous drip with an artificial blood vessel are not taken, there is a high possibility that an emergency situation will come.

However, no incurable disease could break Miss A's will.

Miss A expressed her intention to challenge the exam.

In response, Ms. A's parents and the hospital asked the authorities to 'allow them to take the test in a safe situation', and the education authorities allowed it.

Prior to the CSAT, Kosin University Hospital in Busan set up a test center for only one person on the 6th floor of the hospital, and on the day of the test, the Busan Office of Education dispatched two supervisors, two police officers, and one school inspector to manage the test.

The mother, who sent Miss A to the hospital room, said, “My daughter was nervous before the exam, but she slept well last night and ate a good breakfast. Her condition was good.” “My daughter has been very strong,” he said.

She continued, "She would like to thank the hospital, education authorities, Pukyong High School teachers, and many people who supported her so that her daughter could take the CSAT."
