A day after the prosecutors summoned and investigated Chief Jeong Jin-sang as a suspect, they requested an arrest warrant for taking bribes and violating the Anti-Corruption Act, taking bribes, and destroying evidence.
From 2013 to the year before last, he was accused of receiving 140 million won in bribes from former head Dong-gyu Yoo on six occasions in exchange for business convenience, and 42.8 billion won of the stake in Cheonhwa-dong owned by Man-bae Kim, a Daejang-dong operator, jointly with Kim Yong, vice president of the Democratic Research Institute. Charges such as being promised in advance to possess were applied.
It is known that the charges made known through the search warrant were applied as they were.
Chief Chung denied all charges and requested a cross-examination with former head Dong-gyu Yoo, but it was confirmed that the prosecution refused.
The prosecution is in the position that despite Chung's denial of the charges, the personal and material evidence necessary to prove the charges applied to the arrest warrant has been secured.
Chief Jung's arrest warrant review will be held tomorrow at 2:00 pm at the Seoul Central District Court.
Deputy Judge Kim Se-yong, who issued the arrest warrant for Deputy Director Kim Yong, will be in charge of the review.
As the relationship between Chief Jeong Jin-sang and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myeong is suspected as a political community, it is expected that future prosecution investigations will be directed directly to Lee Jae-myeong if Chief Jung's recruit is secured.
