On the day of the Itaewon disaster, there was an internal report from the Yongsan Police Station that there would be a lot of people, but it was confirmed as a result of our coverage that the upper level ignored the report to focus on the assembly around the presidential office.

The police who posted the report offered to go directly to the scene, but that too was not accepted.

We covered the process in detail after the internal report was uploaded to Yongsan-seo.

First of all, this is an exclusive report by reporter Han Seong-hee.

is a document titled 'Itaewon Halloween Festival Public Health Risk Analysis' written on the 26th of last month, three days before the disaster, by police officer A belonging to the information department of the Yongsan Police Station.

About 100,000 people visited Itaewon at the festival last year, and it was written that this year is the first Halloween after the lifting of quarantine rules, so a large crowd is expected.

As a result of SBS interviewing Yongsan Police Station employees, it was confirmed that Mr. A said to his superior, the information department manager, while submitting this report in the morning, "We should monitor the crowd situation and dispatch an intelligence officer to report to the police station."

However, the head of the intelligence department ignored Mr. A's report, saying, "Concentrate on the situation of a large-scale rally that marches to the vicinity of the presidential office that evening."

It turned out that he did not accept Mr. A's opinion that he would even go directly to the Itaewon site.

Mr. A again conveyed his opinion to his direct supervisor, the chief of intelligence, but no action was taken.

Mr. A later uploaded the report he prepared at around 8:30 pm on the intelligence management system of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

However, the report was automatically deleted after 72 hours according to this system setting.

The deletion time was around 8:30 pm on the 29th, the day of the disaster.

The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency called Mr. A as a witness and secured a statement of this kind.

In the special edition, it was also confirmed that the contents of Mr. A's report were not spread not only to the Yongsan Chief, but also to the 112 Situation Room, which established security measures, and the Security Division, which deployed the task force.

In the end, there were no intelligence officers trained to detect and report danger at the site prior to the Itaewon disaster.
