The Ministry of Education announced at a regular briefing today (31st) that one middle school student and five high school students died as a result of tallying the damage of elementary, middle and high school students related to the Itaewon disaster.



All of them are students of Seoul area school.



Three teachers died (one each in Gyeonggi, Seoul, and Ulsan).



A total of 5 students were injured, 4 from Seoul and 1 from Chungnam.



Of these, two are currently being treated at the hospital, and two out of three who returned home suffered fractures and one suffered minor injuries.



An official from the Ministry of Education said, "Of the 11 teenage deaths announced in the middle script, we finally confirmed that 6 were students (middle and high school students)." said.



The Ministry of Education held an emergency meeting this morning and decided to respond to the accident by providing psychological support to students.



First of all, the Ministry of Education decided to work closely with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to provide comprehensive support including psychological support so that schools can be stabilized at an early stage, and also to promote measures to supplement school safety education.



Until November 5, the national mourning period, each school will be allowed to participate in mourning, such as hoisting flags or students wearing commemorative ribbons, and various events will be held to a minimum.



For university students, the Ministry of Health and Welfare will set up a one-on-one support system for civil servants to systematically provide necessary support to the bereaved family.
