Sad times are passing.

The Halloween disaster in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul has killed 153 people so far.

Another 100 people were injured.

The government declared Yongsan a special disaster area and decided to hold a national mourning period.

SBS decided to use the scene screen, but to cover it up as much as possible so that the reality of the incident could be grasped.

Thousands of people filled the narrow downhill alley.

As some people fell, the area became a chaos in an instant.



People fell one after another on a downhill alley that was only 3.2m wide, and it was laid on top of each other.



[Witness: The alley is narrow, but it was a downhill road.

(Behind the scenes) I suddenly started gaining weight.

It started to fall because of the push, and from then on, it was a mess.]



The first report of people being crushed and unable to breathe was first reported to the fire department at around 10:15 last night.



In less than an hour, more than 80 reports followed.



Firefighters arrived at the scene and tried to rescue those who were struck, but to no avail.



[Witness: The person next to me was constantly sweating and said that I was really going to die. It was a narrow alley, so everyone was climbing up the wall.

So far, the death toll has risen to 153 and the number of injured to 103.



The number of foreigners who died was also counted as 25, and they were of various nationalities, such as the United States, China, Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Norway.



The government declared Yongsan-gu, Seoul a special disaster zone, and set the national mourning period until midnight on the 5th of the following month.
