In the future, if you assault another passenger on a train such as a KTX or subway, the sentence will be increased to a maximum of three years in prison, regardless of whether or not you agree with the victim.

We also provide bodycams for train crews and rubber bullets for railroad police to strengthen responses to assaults on trains.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today the safety reinforcement measures in trains that contain these contents.

This is a countermeasure prepared in response to the incident of a man in his twenties swearing and assaulting at a KTX train station in August because he was talking about a child.

It has been pointed out that the punishment for assault on a train is weak compared to assault on an airplane, which can be punished by imprisonment for up to five years even if agreed with the victim.

In addition, since there is no specific punishment provision under the Railroad Safety Act, the provisions of the Criminal Act have been applied, stating that even if there is an assault, it is punishable by imprisonment for up to two years and cannot be punished if agreed upon.
