A local woman who was designated as a suspect in New Zealand's 'Children's body in a bag case' was arrested in Ulsan.

According to the National Police Agency, the Ulsan Central Police Station arrested a woman in her 40s, who is suspected of killing two 7 and 10 year old children in Auckland, New Zealand around 2018, in an apartment in Ulsan today (15th).

Mr. A, who immigrated to New Zealand and acquired her local citizenship, came to Korea after her crime and fled, and it is known that her husband had previously served in the local military.

New Zealand police have launched an investigation into a murder case in August this year when two bodies of an elementary school student were found in a bag an Auckland resident bought at an online auction.

After receiving a request for assistance from Mr. A, the National Police Agency has been working with Interpol New Zealand to trace Mr. A's whereabouts through his stay in Korea, medical records, and phone number.

Recently, the Ulsan Central Police Station detective team obtained information about Mr. A, checked the surrounding CCTV, and secured her recruit on this day after an undercover investigation.

The extradition review of Mr. A will be conducted by the court, and the New Zealand side's extradition will be decided according to the court's decision.

“We worked closely with Interpol of New Zealand to persistently pursue and arrest suspects who committed crimes against humanity,” said Kang Ki-taek, director of the Interpol International Cooperation Division at the National Police Agency.
