▲ Resistance poet Yun Dong-ju

I hope that until the day I die, I look up to the sky and

have no shame,

even the wind on the leaves was

painful.

To love every dying thing

with a heart that sings the stars .

And I have to

walk the path given to me.

Even tonight, the stars are blowing in the wind.

-Dong-Ju Yun, part of a poem-

Korean family registers are granted to 156 people of merit for independence, including Governor Yun Dong-ju, a representative resistance poet in Korea.

Yesterday (11th), the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced that it would promote the creation of a 'family relations register' for 156 people of undeserved independence merit.

Since the revision of the Act on Respect for People of Independence Merit in 2009, the government has supported the establishment of a family relation register by receiving applications from direct descendants, but this is the first time that the government has created a family relation register for persons of undeserved independence without direct descendants. no see.

The 156 people of merit for independence who were selected this time either emigrated overseas before the enactment of the Joseon Civil Command (1912) during the Japanese colonial period, or died during the independence movement before liberation, so they have never had a record on Korean public documents.

Since the enactment of the Nationality Act in December 1948, it has been pointed out that the nationality of Koreans is considered to be a Korean national, so even though Governor Yun Dong-ju and others are Korean citizens, it is regrettable that there are no Korean public documents.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs selected the founding candidates after checking the personal information of each individual of independence merit one by one and correcting the information according to the facts during the public investigation.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs decided to register the 156 people of independence merit as the Independence Hall (1, Independence Hall-ro, Mokcheon-eup, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do) by collecting opinions from relevant organizations such as the Liberation Day, independence movement-related organizations, the Memorial Business Association, and Seodaemun Prison. We plan to closely consult with the Seoul Family Court for the establishment of the Korean Family Relations Register.

Park Min-sik, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Affairs, said, "The fact that 156 people of merit for independence who had no direct descendants or family registers are listed on the official documents of the Republic of Korea. "The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs systematically promotes the establishment of the Family Relations Register of the Undefeated People of Independence Merit so that not even a single individual of merit for independence remains invincible. I will do my best to respect you,” he said.
