A father in India who believed in the absurd superstition that 'you can find treasures by burying people alive' was arrested by local police.

According to AFP news on the 27th of local time, his heartless father and his gang were caught as active criminals in a village in the state of Maharashtra, western India, for trying to bury his daughter, 18, alive.

On that day, Indian police were called to a family house after receiving a report that a person would be buried alive for a 'human sacrifice ritual'.

The sight of the family house that the police dispatched to the scene faced was shocking.

Because nine people, including the shaman, were performing the ritual to sacrifice the man's daughter.

Eventually, the police arrested them as current offenders.

Investigations revealed that they had been performing witchcraft rituals for several days and even dug a pit in the garden to bury their daughter.

The arrested father is said to have believed strongly that he could find the treasure by sacrificing his daughter.

The local police chief said in an interview with AFP news agency, "The woman could have died if the police hadn't arrived."

Her victim daughter, who heard her father's conversations with her shaman and others before her witchcraft, turned to her friend for help, which prompted her friend to report it to the police.

Local police plan to apply charges of attempted murder to all nine arrested accomplices.
