They haven't even caught a big fire yet.

We will connect with reporters who are at the scene of the fire in Uljin to hear the current situation in detail.

Yes, I am standing in front of the Shillabi Memorial Hall in Uljin, where the field command headquarters for this wildfire is located.

Forest officials are still working to put out the wildfires.

During the night, about 280 vehicles and 1,000 firefighters were put in to focus on the defense of the Geumgangsong community in Sogwang-ri.

In particular, we focused on the defense of major facilities according to the forecast that the wind direction changes over time.

From about 6:50 a.m. later, 82 helicopters, which are key equipment for the firefighting operation, will be deployed with support from the Ministry of National Defense.

It is a plan to get as much as possible within today, but the explanation of the authorities is that it is not easy.

Originally, yesterday (7th), the goal was to catch the head of the fire before the sun went down, but the fire extinguishing rate did not progress further from 50%.

We divided the area of the Uljin wildfire into ten zones and carried out the suppression work, because the fire was stronger than expected.

The denser growth of trees in the mountains compared to other forests also slows the evolutionary process.

Meanwhile, the police investigation into the cause of the wildfire is also accelerating.

Police are identifying the numbers of the four vehicles that passed the place at the time of the initial fire and verifying the identities of the drivers.

Previously, these vehicles were captured on CCTV screens surrounding them as they passed the nearby road before the white smoke that led to the big fire at the time rose.
