A male doctor in his 70s who molested a teenage girl in a hospital elevator has been sentenced to prison.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Daejeon District Court (Presiding Judge Park Heon-haeng) sentenced A (72), who was charged with violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles (forced molestation), to one year and six months in prison and detained him.

In addition, he ordered the completion of 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and a three-year restriction on employment at organizations related to children, youth and the disabled.

A was handed over to trial on September 28, 2020, on the charge of touching the breast of victim B in the elevator of a hospital building in Seo-gu, Daejeon.

It was investigated that A was shoulder-sharing with B and touched her breast saying that she had to lose weight.

During the investigation, Mr. A completely denied the sexual assault and claimed that he thought the victim was a man, but the court did not accept it because the victim's statements were consistent.

The court said, "The quality of the crime is poor in view of the circumstances, method, and location of the crime." "Nevertheless, Mr. A is consistent with excuses that are difficult to understand, and that he directly visited the victim's side without permission to cover up the case, and the damage caused. I took into account the fact that I didn't make any effort to recover," he said.
