When the husband of Mr. A, who was walking earlier, hit the median bar installed at the starting point of the escalator and passed, the median bar fell forward and the floor plate cover was lifted and opened.
In this accident, Mr. A suffered major injuries to both feet and underwent surgery, but it is said that a complete recovery is difficult.
The Railroad Special Judicial Police Unit is investigating the exact cause of the accident and is trying to determine if there is any negligence on the part of the consigned company in charge of the inspection and management of the escalator.
An official from KORAIL explained, "The escalator is a facility within the station, and inspection and management are performed by a consigned company."
