Google sent a message to its American employees telling them that anyone not vaccinated against the coronavirus runs the risk of losing their pay.

The next step considered by the Californian giant is the dismissal.

The memo gave employees until Dec. 3 to communicate their immunization status and provide the corresponding certificates, reports CNBC.

A first suspension of 30 days

The company then began to contact people who were unvaccinated or who had not submitted supporting documents on time, the message said.

From January 18, 2022, the employees concerned will be “administratively suspended” for 30 days.

They will then be placed on "unpaid leave" for a period of up to six months.

This measure will be followed, if necessary, by dismissal.

“We hope that almost all Google employees in the United States will be in good standing with regard to government instructions,” the memo read.

President Joe Biden has asked American companies with more than 100 employees to ensure that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or regularly tested by January 18.

Google face-to-face fan

A federal court had however suspended this presidential decree in early November.

Many companies in the digital sector do not intend to speed up the return of their employees to their workplace.

Google is an exception and initially planned to reopen all of its offices in January 2022. The company now encourages its employees to work face-to-face without forcing them to do so.

The company explained that it would study exemptions from compulsory vaccination for religious or medical reasons on a case-by-case basis.

She also suggested that employees seek internal positions allowing them not to be vaccinated while respecting the presidential decree.
