<Anchor> The

price of flatfish, which is mainly eaten raw, has risen significantly recently. The supply of flatfish has decreased compared to before, but the price is rising as demand increases mainly for delivery after Corona. Because of this, it is said that sushi restaurants are having a hard time these days.

Reporter Ahn Seo-hyeon covered the story.

<Reporter>

I visited Noryangjin Fish Market on a weekday afternoon.

[Noryangjin Fish Market Merchant: (How much is flatfish?) It is 30,000 won per kg. (Is it 30,000 won?) 2 kg is 60,000 won.]

In March of last year, 1 kg of flatfish was less than 8,000 won.

The local price has more than doubled in recent years.

To find out why, I went to Jeju Island, where there are many flounder fish farms.

[KIM Seung-ho / flounder aquaculture representatives (two years ago), price declines while their farmers's scary because it was a lot to see The place (in the tank) deficit structure flounder.]

Is a word sometimes abandoned flounder form since the year before last flatfish values plummet were in will.

[Kim Seung-ho/Float Fish Farm CEO: 'Oh, I can't do it anymore (float farming), live! “Let’s switch to a different fish species,” so I switched a lot to the flounder.]

Also, due to Corona 19, there is a shortage of manpower at the fish farm.

[Kim Seung-ho / CEO of flatfish farm: I can't enter the country, so I can't receive foreigners (workers). 'Let's empty the tank a little' When someone comes, we do that... So, overall (float fry) stocking has decreased.] Although the

supply has decreased in this way, the demand has increased

dramatically

since Corona 19.

[Kim Seung-ho / CEO of Flounder Farm: The sashimi market, which was mainly consumed at sashimi restaurants, is sold through delivery, so the per capita consumption of flatfish has increased.]

Usually, flatfish need to be grown for more than a year before being exported to a sushi restaurant or supermarket, so production cannot be increased right away. .

As flatfish prices skyrocketed, it was especially difficult for self-employed people who run sushi restaurants.

[Jeon Jong-nam / Sashimi Restaurant Operation: The entry of two daegwang fish and urok (menu board) is now blocked. It's two flounder and two flounder. If this goes in, there is no (profit) left. So 'I don't want to sell' just... .]

Uruk, which has been considered as the national sashimi along with flatfish, is also recording the highest price in the last 10 years.

However, it is not possible to raise the price easily just because the cost has soared.

[Jeon Jong-nam / Sashimi Restaurant Operation: (Delivery App) A review came up, saying 'the quantity is less'. In fact, I gave more. I'm so excited that I really want to reveal the cost... ]

Business restrictions have been relaxed, but we wait for customers with patience every day to see when the prices of flatfish and flounder will go down.
