fire broke out on the 13th floor of an apartment building in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul at dawn today (15th). Sadly, four members of a family died in the house where five people lived.

Some residents who live above the 13th floor where the fire broke out go up to the roof and eagerly await rescue.

A fire broke out in an apartment building in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul around 1:43 this morning.



There were five members of a family in the 13-story house that caught fire, and their 5-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter, their 40-year-old mother and 60-year-old grandmother died as they could not escape.

Only my father in his 40s escaped with second degree burns.

Five residents upstairs and downstairs who inhaled smoke were also taken to the hospital.

This apartment struggled with early evolution as there were no sprinklers on each floor. 



According to the current law, a sprinkler must be installed on every floor if the apartment building is 6 stories or more, but the apartment building that caught fire was built in 2003 before the law was amended and was not covered.



Police and fire departments controlled access to the apartment's common front door and launched a joint investigation to find the exact ignition point.

The fire department will investigate the exact extent of casualties and the cause of the fire as soon as the firefighting work is completed.
