<Anchor> As the

highly pathogenic avian influenza continues for more than two months, the price of eggs continues to rise.

Based on the 10 special cases, the production price has nearly doubled compared to last year, and the wholesale price has also exceeded 2,000 won for the first time since 2017.

The government is in a hurry to bring eggs from the US and unpack them in the market, but it is not enough to get the price.

However, when our reporters went to a farm, more than 1 million eggs were piled up in the warehouse.

Reporter Deok-Hyun Kim reported on why he couldn't sell the egg.

<Reporter> This

is a laying chicken farm in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

We have raised 37,000 laying chickens whose purpose is to lay eggs.

The warehouse inside the farm is filled with eggs without any gaps, but the number of eggs stacked over 800,000 is not distributed on the market.

The combined amount of eggs stored in two other warehouses exceeds 1 million.

In December of last year, all chickens raised were ordered to be killed, and eggs, a by-product, were banned for burial.

An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza and AI occurred on a nearby farm, and according to government guidelines, the farm, which was within a 3 km radius, was included in the target for killing.

Farm owners have refused to kill orders since 1984, claiming that no AI has ever occurred on the farm.

[Jaeho Yoo/Sanan Village, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do: The proof that the pollutant source is not within 3km is now being done by healthy chickens here."

Eggs are also being laid in a healthy way.] With the

recent decrease in the frequency of AI outbreaks, the government has reduced the range of killings for two weeks starting today (15th) to within a radius of 1km from AI-prone farms.

The farm was out of the range of killings, but was not eligible for relief.

[Park Byeong-hong/Director of Food Industry Policy, Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock: The order to dispose of killing was applied as it is, and I believe that it is a legal disposition.]

Amid conflict between the government and farmers, there is a growing voice that the uniform killing method should be improved. .
