The first trial court fined 10 million won for A, a foreign worker who was handed over to the trial for providing the cause of the fire by blowing a wind lantern during the ``reservoir fire'' in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do in 2018.



Judge Son Ho-young, the 5th exclusive detective at Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Law, said, "The defendant blew a wind lantern, causing enormous economic and environmental damage, and the defendant recognized the existence of a reservoir that was vulnerable to fire. He said, "We considered the accused's violation of his duty of care, the extent of the incident, his status as a foreign worker, the contents of his petition, and that he had never been punished in Korea."



On October 7, 2018, Mr. A lit a wind lamp at the tunnel construction site near the reservoir at Gyeonginsa Temple of the Daehan Oil Pipeline Corporation in Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, around 10:30 am. He was indicted without custody for causing a fire while being transferred to the inside of the tank.



This fire incurred approximately 11 billion won in property damage, including 4 oil storage tanks and gasoline.
