<Anchor> With the number of

additional corona 19 confirmed on the second day exceeding 1,000, the number of people who died of Corona 19 yesterday (16th) was the highest ever at 22.

In Seoul, a man in his 60s couldn't find a hospital to be hospitalized even after being diagnosed with Corona 19, so he waited at home and eventually died.

Since it was confirmed last Saturday, I urgently requested the Seoul City to allocate a bed twice, but there was no action and I passed away yesterday.

<Reporter> A

man in his 60s who died on the 15th in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul was confirmed on the 12th, four days before his death.

Men were diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure, but they were classified as asymptomatic because they had no symptoms other than a sore throat.

Two days later, hospital beds were not assigned, and the wait at home continued. On the morning of the 14th, blood sputum suddenly came out and coughing worsened, so I contacted the health center.

The public health center requested'emergency bed assignment' to the city of Seoul twice in the morning and afternoon on the same day.

However, no action was taken, and on the morning of the next day, the morning of the 15th, an paramedic dispatched to report his wife found a man hiding in the house.

[Dongdaemun-gu Office official: Even though we requested again (beds) from Seoul twice, it is because there were no beds, but because they were not assigned...

.] The

Seoul Metropolitan Government has yet to give an answer to the fact that beds have not been allocated even after two urgent requests.

The initial response to the underlying disease also revealed problems.

According to the quarantine authorities' guidelines for bed placement, confirmed patients in their 60s or older who suffer from diabetes and heart failure, such as a man who died, must be admitted to a dedicated hospital.

On the 13th, the day after the diagnosis, 149 beds were left in the hospitals dedicated to Seoul.

However, it is pointed out that the quarantine authorities classified men as asymptomatic, and that the assignment of beds was lowered.

[Kwak Jin/Bang Dae-bon, Patient Management Team Leader: I know that the level of management of the underlying disease is set priorities by comprehensively considering all of them.] The

quarantine authorities announced that they would check the

reason

for the delay in bed assignment.
