Seoul Yeongdeungpo-gu (Gu Mayor Chae Hyeon-il) has four streets in Yeouido, including in front of the Parliament Building (2,765m), Yeouidong-ro (476m), the road around Yeouido Lotte Castle Ivy (429m), and the road around Yeouido Station (132m). It was announced today (5th) that about 4km was additionally designated as a non-smoking distance.

Earlier in September this year, Yeongdeungpo-gu designated Yeouido Station as a non-smoking area.

The city also designated three additional non-smoking streets: the back gate of Sindaerim Elementary School (228m), the road around Singil Station (200m), and the road around Dangsan Station (86m).

Accordingly, the number of non-smoking areas designated by Yeongdeungpo-gu has increased to 13,862, including 7 newly designated non-smoking streets.

As of the 29th of last month, the crackdown on smoking in the newly designated non-smoking streets will commence from December 1st, and a penalty of 100,000 won will be imposed upon detection.

In September of last year, Yeongdeungpo-gu designated all elementary, middle, and high school commuting routes in the region as non-smoking streets for the first time in the country.
