The Meurthe-et-Moselle Assize Court on Wednesday sentenced a mother to 30 years of criminal imprisonment with 20 years of security for having asphyxiated in 2017 her two daughters of 19 months and 3 and a half years.

A 27-year-old mother was sentenced Wednesday by the Assize Court of Meurthe-et-Moselle to 30 years of criminal imprisonment with 20 years of security for having asphyxiated in 2017 her two daughters of 19 months and 3 and a half years .

The court found Jenny Joyce de Mass guilty of murder and followed the requisitions of the attorney general, Hadrien Baron, against this mother who took refuge behind "a small voice" who "ordered her to kill her two children ", Kameliah-Orlane and Kheila-Jane and" then to commit suicide ".

"No mental disorder"

She thus assured to have wanted to do the same thing with her, namely to suffocate, but without succeeding.

During the investigation as during their testimonies, the experts affirmed to have found "no mental disorder having altered its discernment".

In front of the court, the accused recounted, visibly without emotion, the facts of January 1, 2017. She explained that she went to bed after putting her children to bed.

It was when she woke up, around 4 a.m., according to her that something asked her to act.

She said she was "remote-controlled" when she picked up the first girl, put a bag over her head until she didn't move.

A little voice in my head

The mother admitted to having then started again with the second child, before trying the same thing on her.

But without success, neither with a bag nor with medication.

Finally, she added, it was always the voice that told her to call the police.

For the prosecution, the version of this woman, originally from Cameroon, is false.

If she killed her daughters, it was to deprive her companion of which she denounced physical and sexual violence which has never been demonstrated.

The couple she formed with her companion was, it is true, in decline.

Only during the investigation, the police had discovered messages suggesting that she was going to commit this double infanticide.

"With the girls, look at what I'm going to do and you are responsible for the crime", she had notably threatened on the evening of December 31.

According to her statements, the mother suffocated her children whose hands she had tied behind their backs by putting a piece of tape over their mouths before placing a plastic bag over their heads.

For the defense lawyer, Me Julie Sammari, the accused "has already been punished because she no longer has her daughters" she argued.

"I regret what I did, the mistake I made. It will haunt me", admitted the accused.
