Google closes the Play Music store -

Geeko

Google is undertaking the killing of its music streaming service Play Music, announced last August.

In anticipation of the service's outright demise, Google shut down the Play Store.

It is therefore no longer possible to buy or download new songs from the Google music service.

Google Play Music subscribers and users can still listen to their previously purchased or downloaded songs, but for a limited time.

The Mountain View firm plans to do away with its service completely at the end of the year.

An easy transition to YouTube Music

The American giant invites its users to migrate to YouTube Music, successor to Play Music.

A migration that can be done smoothly since Google offers to transfer its music from Play Music to YouTube Music via an online tool.

Subscribers will be able to keep and listen to their purchased songs.

It is also possible to download all of its data (purchased music, wishlist, reviews and its library) via Google TakeOut or simply remove its Play Music settings in anticipation of the service's demise.

If users do not opt for any of these solutions, Google will take care of deleting all their data when Play Music disappears next December.
