Apple has developed a special iPod to store sensitive data - Geeko

During its existence, Apple has developed all kinds of unusual objects, in addition to its marketed technological products. Some of these objects have been unveiled to the public, while others have not left the laboratories of the firm. Among these prototypes, Apple would have developed a somewhat special iPod, intended for members of the US government.

It was David Shayer, a former Apple employee, who shared this story with TidBits magazine . The man assures that in 2005, the US Department of Energy would have asked Apple to develop a modified iPod in order to save sensitive files. This very particular iPod had hidden partitions allowing its owner to store confidential data while having a perfectly normal appearance.

A Geiger counter as a bonus

There was also talk of the device being able to measure data such as the level of radioactivity in the air, like a Geiger counter.

The former Apple employee says that this iPod project was completely unofficial and that the number of people to work on it was limited. Moreover, according to David Shayer, today there is no physical trace of this particular iPod. So it is quite difficult to know whether this story is true or not. It still has the merit of adding a little mystery around the American apple company.
