In August 2012, the maximum instantaneous wind speed of the typhoon'Bolaben', which caused great damage, was 59.5m per second.

A strong wind that makes it difficult for people to walk straight ahead caused 683 cases of power outages in the history of the country, causing damage in various places.

In addition, two Chinese ships anchored at the time of Seogwipo were aground, killing 15 out of 33 sailors.

Last year's 13th typhoon'Lingling', which was accompanied by a strong wind with a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 54.4m per second, is also counted as a typhoon similar to typhoon Barbie.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, four people were killed and 10 were injured due to strong winds and heavy rain at the time of Lingling.

Typhoon Barbie in the north is expected to advance to the west sea through the western sea of Jeju Island, which is a route similar to Bollaben and Lingling, but there are also observations that this typhoon may be more intense.

From this night to tomorrow when the typhoon enters the Korean peninsula, strong winds of 144 to 216 km per hour are expected to blow around Jeju Island and the Jeolla coastline.

As strong winds are expected in other western and southern coasts, there are growing concerns about damage.

The Meteorological Administration said, "It is expected that the wind will be stronger than precipitation in this typhoon," and said, "Please be careful not to cause safety accidents and damage to crops, and to thoroughly manage facilities."
