The police arrested a man in their 20s for allegedly selling related videos via social media in April after receiving a complaint from a group about a child sexual exploitation video vendor.

The man reportedly collected and sold child sexual exploitation videos through chat apps and online.

The police, who turned the seller over to prosecution, also launched a massive roundup of video buyers.

So far, hundreds of known buyers have been identified by the police.

Recently, 223 South Koreans were arrested as child sexual exploitation criminals, and hundreds more were on the investigation.

There is also a growing criticism that Korea's punishment for crimes related to child sexual exploitation is too low compared to foreign countries.

Choi Young-ae, chairman of the National Human Rights Commissioner, said yesterday (25th) in a national audit.

[Chief Young-Ae / National Human Rights Commissioner: In other countries, we strictly regulate and punish children (videos of sexual exploitation). In Korean society, it does not filter well and this tends to be unpunished.]

In addition to aggressive arrests for child sexual exploitation video crimes, there is an urgent need to strengthen penalties.
