There is a post-employment learning system in which high school graduates work for a certain period of time at a small company and then go to college and the government subsidizes the tuition.

However, I am complaining that I am not trying to change my degree.

Lee Cheol-hwan, who works at IT small and medium-sized business after graduating from Sungwha High School 6 years ago, is studying computer engineering after graduating from university.

[Lee, Chul-Hwan / Director, Small and Medium Business Administration: Since I have a job, my proficiency is similar to college graduates or high school graduates.

In fact, the Korea Vocational Training Center surveyed 799 high school graduates, and 29% of respondents said they have high school graduates. It means that wages are lower than college graduates and there is a disadvantage in promotion.

So, after graduating from the specialization high school, the government is implementing the system to support the full amount of the tuition when working in industry for more than 3 years from this year. It is so-called post-employment learning system.

However, there is a strong perception that even if a degree is awarded, the treatment will not change significantly. It is the position that the employers have no reason to differentiate themselves from their degrees.

[Chan Woo Kim / Small Business Representative: If you have the ability, I will give you a lot of salary even if you do not have a degree. So when we asked for more wages because we had a degree, we did not agree with that.]

The budget allocated by the Ministry of Education for post-employment training amounts to 60 billion won a year. It is also necessary for employees who want to continue their studies to change their perceptions and supplement their systems so that they can be of practical help to companies that want to improve their performance.
