A former National Intelligence Service official who was accused of stopping Yu Guo's sister Yu Guarou's attorney was arrested and sentenced to prison in the first trial at the time of the investigation of the "spy case of Seoul government officials".

Judge Choi Hyuk-bok, a judge of the Seoul Central District Court, sentenced Kwon Mo, a former prosecutor of the National Intelligence Service, to eight months in prison and one year of suspension.

Kwon, who was tried in detention, was arrested on the day of sentencing him.

The court said, "It is acknowledged that there is a need to carry out investigations without properly establishing the recruitment treatment guidelines." Even if this were taken into account, it infringed on the counsel's right to obtain evidence, and Yoo Garoue suffered considerable mental and physical pain "He said.

"There may be cases of harsh behavior, and there are circumstances that make it doubtful," he said. "We need the corresponding punishment."

The lawyer, Jang Kyung-wook of the law firm, who was in charge of the "official spy manipulation case", applied for the interview of Yoo Kang-rae at the joint news center of the NIS at the beginning of 2013, but the NIS was not allowed.

Zhang, a lawyer, said the NIS violates the right to counsel without proper reason.

The prosecution has just put Kwon on trial in March this year, five years after that.

The court ruled that the NIS confirmed that Yoo was not a defector and that the failure to take measures to lift the joint news center was deviating from the limits of the relevant laws and regulations.

He said that even if he retained his status as a "reference person," he should have accepted the right to be a lawyer, as he accepted the evidence for alleged violation of the National Security Law.

"The defendant knew that if the defendant could be turned into a suspect, his rights would be guaranteed under the Criminal Procedure Act, and he knew that he would go beyond his status and discretion. "I am guilty of the charges."
