Brigadier Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Athletics Federation, during the upcoming elections for the electoral cycle, as Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr will present his file through the Khorfakkan Club, where he was a former athletics player in the club, indicating that he will rely on a governance institutional system to implement the Federation’s programs through four Main themes.

Al-Murr told "Emirates Today": "I played the game before entering the field of police work, and I held the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Club (formerly the Gulf) for a period of time."

Al-Murr, who works as an officer in the Dubai Police, holds a doctorate in law and holds the position of Director of the General Department of Human Rights in Dubai Police: “The game needs more support and concerted efforts to improve it for the better. It has been achieved during the last period, as I plan to run from a solid ground and aspire to develop the game.”

He continued: “If I succeed in assuming the position of president of the Athletics Federation, the main goal will be to analyze the current situation of the federation and take advantage of its strengths, because the Athletics Federation, throughout its history, was led by many big names, for example, but not limited to, the Deputy Chief of Police. And Public Security in Dubai, Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, and Lieutenant-General (M) Mohammed Hilal Suroor Al-Kaabi.

He added, "We feel more than ever that there is an urgent need for an innovative program that ensures the advancement of athletics at all levels, so we will introduce an institutional governance system to implement the Federation's programs through four main axes."

He explained: «The first axis is the speed of eliminating the causes and obstacles that prevent the wheel of (the mother of games) moving forward, by focusing on institutional planning based on scientific foundations, in addition to focusing on digital transformation, while one of the most prominent points is building a citizenship base for game rulers. Athletics, highlighting and supporting athletics for the women’s category, while the second axis is focusing on the priorities of the next stage.” He added: “A policy will be implemented to discover and attract talent, develop and adopt it, and sustain its bid and keep them, and there will be a policy for licensing, accreditation and control of athletics staff in accordance with to international standards.

He continued by saying: “The third axis depends on drawing a road map for the future of the game in the country by adopting the forward-looking strategy of the federation, which is based on how to prepare this map, define responsibilities and develop performance measures, in addition to strategic initiatives and projects that contribute to the development of the federation, while the fourth axis It depends on sports and local partnerships to develop the game in general by concluding goals management contracts with sports institutions, most notably with the General Sports Authority, the National Olympic Committee, sports councils in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, and the executive councils of the emirates of Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, and we will also work to reach in partnership with institutions The national economy and the private sector have turned to an economic model to support athletics based on social responsibility programs for partnerships and sponsorships.
