In the Euro 2020 round of 16 at the European Championships, Spain defeated Croatia 5-3 after extra-time and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Spain got off to a shaky start in the 20th minute, when goalkeeper Simon gave an outrageous own goal that missed the defender's back pass.

However, Spain turned 3-1 in the second half with goals from Aspilicueta and Ferran Torres following Sarabia's equalizer in the 38th minute of the first half.

However, Croatia's counterattack was not easy.

In the 40th minute of the second half, Orsic's save goal and a header from Pashalic in extra time made it 3-3.

It was Spain who laughed in the extra time that followed.

Morata's goal took the lead again in the 10th minute of extra time, and Oyarzabal's key goal 3 minutes later put an end to the 5-3 match.

Spain will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals, beating France.
