Al-Jazeera player and the former national team, Youssef Abdel Aziz, survived a terrible traffic accident in Abu Dhabi, which resulted in the smash of his car, the upper half of which was split, while he was transferred to the hospital, where he is recovering from sporadic bruises on his body.

Youssef Abdel Aziz said during a phone call with Emirates Today that while he was walking in front of Shakhbout Hospital in the capital, Abu Dhabi, he was surprised by a car trying to turn around and avoided it, only to find himself colliding with a large truck whose driver was trying to reverse.

He added, "The police report stated that the truck driver was the one who caused the accident as he was trying to reverse, as he was located behind the yellow line area, which is forbidden to drive cars."

He explained: "I did not feel what happened to me in the accident, as I was surprised that I was in intensive care at Shakhbout Hospital, in which I stayed for one day before going out on Monday afternoon to a regular room to be placed under medical observation."

"The medical reports indicated that there were bruises in separate places in all areas of the body, and within a few days I would be discharged from the hospital," Youssef Abdel Aziz added.

The former player is one of the prominent names in the late 1990s and 2007 with Al Jazira club and the national team.
