A poll conducted by "Emirates Today" on its Twitter account, during which the audience was asked about their confidence in the ability of the Dutch national team coach, Van Marwijk, to lead the national team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals. Only 34% of 566 respondents expressed their confidence in the coach, while he saw 66% were unable to do so.

The Football Association had recently contracted with Marvik to train the Whites, the second time he took over the task, and succeeded the Colombian coach, Jorge Pinto.

Marvik inaugurated his mission through the first gathering in Dubai last week, during which he fought a friendly match against the Iraq national team, which ended negatively.

The team plays in Group G in the joint qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup Finals and Asia 2023, and ranks fourth with six points after winning two matches against Malaysia and Indonesia, and losing in the two matches against Vietnam and Thailand.

The national team is required to win all the second leg matches that start next March, while waiting for the results of others, in order to ensure the pass to the third stage of the qualifiers.

Marvik will lead the team's second gathering next February, between February 6 and 10, and the third for the period from March 17 to 30, before playing the first qualifying match after it resumed hosting Malaysia on March 25.

Athletes, analysts and fans emphasized that the sports street’s confidence in the team’s ability to qualify for the World Cup will gradually increase in the event of more friendly matches, during which it achieved positive results, indicating that the confidence rate could rise to more than 70% if it was able to win in its next match. They told "Emirates Today": "The opinions of the Emirati public about the national team are affected positively and negatively by the results, and their confidence in the team and coach Marvik will increase if the team has a good start in the next stage."

The athletes indicated that the vision is currently unclear, and that the matter needs to redouble efforts to restore him to his previous position as one of the best teams in Asia.

The need for stability

Fahad Al-Mansoori, head of the Al-Wahda fan club and the national team, affirmed that the team needs stability at this stage and not distracting the players. .

He pointed out that "there was a noticeable change in the national team that everyone touched during the last friendly match against Iraq."

He continued: «The national team lacks some things that must be addressed.

He stressed the importance of everyone’s support for the national team, their solidarity and standing with him.

Responsibility of the players

The head of the Baniyas Fans Council, Hariz Al-Minhali, stressed that the national team is going through a difficult phase that requires everyone to join hands, stressing that: "The biggest burden in the next stage falls on the players, up to 80%, and not the coach."

And he considered that Marvik is not a stranger to the national team, and that the problem is with some players, stressing that "even if the best coach in the world was brought in, without the players he would not be able to reach the desired goal."

"The players are required to feel the great responsibility entrusted to them, as they represent their country's national team," Al-Minhali added.

He said that as a fan, he should support the national team at all times.
